You might have noticed; “we like food “ and even better;” we like food and travel”! One of our favourite cities is Paris, so we have been there a few times (it’s easy to get to from belgium, read Paris – Brussels to see how). Which made us stumble upon a couple of good food hotspots and during the last few visits we noticed that Oberkampf (11th arrondissement) had a lot to offer for foodies! Oberkampf is also known for its great nightlife and as an edgy area, attracting an alternative crowd and cool street art!

Breakfast / Brunch
Café Méricourt
Sweet or salty pancakes, green eggs with feta or focaccia with lamb shoulder, a menu with delicious options! Set in a simple and hip interior, served by perfect English speaking staff. A great place for breakfast/ brunch! It’s one of those places where you need to be lucky to be able to get a table! It’s busy and there are always people waiting, this seems to be very common in Paris! It’s easier to get a table for 2, with 4 or more you will have to be either very lucky or really patient ;). Making reservations is unfortunately not possible (also a common thing).

Season
We’ve mentioned this place in our Paris food guide article as well! We really loved this place! Healthy and savoury food, a cool interior and just the perfect place to catch up with friends over brunch. The only problem is, I’m not the only one that has this opinion. It always seems to be busy here… First time I went here I was lucky, since we were just 2, we got in easy. The last time we got here, we didn’t even bother trying to get a table. There was a long line outside… To bad because the food here is great, plus they have many options.

Paperboys
Breakfast, brunch or lunch, paperboys is a good place to go to! If you are super hungry, go for their set brunch option (26€). This includes; coffee/tea, a juice, a “main” (you have a few options here) and pain perdu (French toast) with fruit or Banana bread. And probably the best part, it comes with homemade peanut butter and salted caramel. It looked delicious!!!! However my appetite wasn’t that big, so I went for the Salmon tataki and even that was difficult to finish. I admit, I kept eying the Brunch menu next to me! Perhaps next time….

Café Oberkampf
A tiny little cafe, with just a few tables. A simple and clean interior with a few healthy lunch options. It was the perfect place for a good cup of coffee and a healthy salad. I went with the salad of the day; couscous, sweet potato, feta & roasted almond salad! Everything is freshly made and tasty! Their coffee was on point and I would love to come here again. Note for all the bloggers and home office folks; no laptops allowed!

Ober Mamma
I actually went to Pink Mamma, but Ober Mamma is one of their 5 other locations. Tasty Italian food, in an urban design. All locations have a different feel to it. Ober Mamma has more of an open space with a green, forestry feel to it. The food is delicious! Making the waiting line equally as long. No reservations are possible and patience is required. Although don’t let the line scare you off, it’s a pretty big place!

Food experience
Pierre Sang
For this impeccable food experience, you will need to book in advance! I didn’t book ahead, but walked in on Friday and tried to book for Saturday. Of course everything was fully booked. But I left my number on the waiting list and was lucky enough to score a table for Saturday night. They have 2 shifts; 19h and 21h.
Pierre Sang is a food experience because first of all, you don’t know what you will be getting. It’s a fixed menu and you don’t get to see the menu. After you’ve had your dish, they tell you what it was. This is a lot of fun, since you try to guess what you are eating and are really putting in more effort to think and taste. 6 different dishes will pass your taste buds. Our seats were in front of the chef! We could see how everything was made and how well and smooth their kitchen was running front row! Definitely a fun experience. If you want to take it a step further, on their website I discovered that they also offer cooking classes; French (80€ per person), Korean (80€ per person) or Food market (190€ per person). I’m very curious for these classes! But that will be for another time.
